Court extends Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary’s judicial custody till July 29

Pune: A Wadgaon Maval court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary till July 29.Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested for allegedly murdering Goyal’s fiancé, Ketan Agarwal, by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Lonavla on June 18.The Pune Rural police arrested the duo on June 23. After spending 10 days in police custody, the accused were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.Goyal is currently lodged at Yerawada Women’s Prison, while Chaudhary is lodged at Yerawada Central Prison.Chaudhary’s lawyer, Ram Shahane, told TOI that the judicial custody of both accused ended on Thursday. “They were produced before the court through video conferencing. The court extended their judicial custody till July 29,” Shahane said.Meanwhile, a Pune Rural police team visited a temple in Rajasthan to verify whether Goyal and Chaudhary had secretly married. The police recovered data from the duo’s cellphones and suspect they may have solemnised their marriage at a temple in Rajasthan.“Our team examined CCTV footage from the temple and nearby areas, but found no evidence to support this,” an investigating officer said.The team also visited a few other locations in Rajasthan to gather information about Goyal and Chaudhary’s movements during their visit. “Our investigation is ongoing,” he said.
