Congress Launches Statewide SIR Campaign Strategy in Maharashtra
Congress leader Sapkal said the party had completed micro-level booth planning across Maharashtra and conducted workshops to train workers on voter verification, objections and corrections process.

Mumbai: Congress organised a state-level strategy meeting on its SIR campaign at Tilak Bhavan in Dadar, attended by senior Congress leaders, MPs, MLAs and booth-level agents, where state party chief Harshwardhan Sapkal claimed attempts were being made to influence elections through voter list revision exercises.He alleged that similar methods were used in Bihar and West Bengal by deleting names from electoral rolls.Congress leader Sapkal said the party had completed micro-level booth planning across Maharashtra and conducted workshops to train workers on voter verification, objections and corrections process.He announced the formation of the party’s special committee for the SIR campaign, headed by Satej Patil, with Abhijeet Sapkal as coordinator.Harshwardhan Sapkal alleged that the BJP came to power in Maharashtra through “vote theft” with the help of the Election Commission and warned that those tampering with voter lists would “have to go to jail in the future.”Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar attacked the state govt over alleged corruption, claiming that if impartial probes were conducted, several people linked to the govt would land behind bars.
