Cockroach Party president Abhijeet Dipke arrives in Lucknow ahead of Eco Garden protest
Cockroach Party chief Abhijeet Dipke reaches Lucknow for protest

LUCKNOW: Cockroach Party president Abhijeet Dipke landed at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport late Thursday night. He is likely to participate in a student protest scheduled at Eco Garden today.Dipke arrived from Pune and touched down around 2:20 am. Wearing a Team India T-shirt, he was seen leaving the airport in his car at approximately 2:40 am.There is suspense over his presence at the protest site as authorities have denied permission for the demonstration. At the airport, Dipke told the media that he would appeal to local police to allow a peaceful protest.“We will request the police to grant us permission. Just like in Delhi and Pune, we will hold a non-violent demonstration. Students only want to voice their concerns, which is their constitutional right,” Dipke said.He recalled that similar protests were held on June 6 at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and later in Pune, where students demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister.Senior police officials told TOI that the organisers had sought permission to hold the protest at Eco Garden in the Alambagh area of Lucknow from June 12 to June 18. However, when the request was revised, they cited permission papers of protests held in other places, including Delhi, following which they were granted permission only for June 12, from 10 am to 4 pm.With police permission still uncertain, suspense continues over whether Dipke and his supporters will be allowed to gather at Eco Garden today.
