Jaipur: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Saturday directed Rajasthan Police to step up its crackdown on cyber criminals by identifying offenders, freezing their assets and dismantling the financial networks behind online fraud. He also approved the engagement of cyber specialists and consultants at the state and district levels to strengthen cyber crime investigations.Chairing a review meeting at the Police Headquarters (PHQ), Sharma said the state govt was committed to effectively curbing cyber crime and would provide police with the infrastructure, technology and manpower needed to tackle the growing threat.

The CM also visited the Rajasthan Cyber Crime Control Centre (R4C), where he reviewed the functioning of the cyber crime control room and the national cyber fraud helpline, 1930. During the visit, he interacted with a cyber fraud victim over the helpline and reviewed the process of complaint registration and coordination with police stations and banks.Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma said that the CM approved the engagement of cyber experts at both the Police Headquarters and district police units to strengthen investigation and response capabilities.“The CM has directed police to take the toughest possible action against cyber criminals by identifying offenders, tracing their financial pipelines and freezing their assets,” the DGP said.He added that the Rajasthan Cyber Crime Control Centre, modelled on the Centre’s Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), would become fully operational within two months. A separate building also has been proposed to house the R4C and the 1930 cyber fraud helpline.The DGP said the number of lines at the 1930 call centre would be increased to 100 by the end of the year, with personnel already undergoing training. The chief minister also reviewed the R4C’s live dashboard and was briefed on its monitoring and response systems.
