Kolkata: About 50 census workers on Friday staged a demonstration outside KMC headquarters, demanding “on-duty” status during their field assignments and payment for the jobs. They also demanded electronic devices, along with the expense for Internet. Swapan Mondal, general secretary of Census Karmi Aikya Mancha, said, “We will boycott the census work until we get ‘on-duty’ status for it.”
