Kanpur: Burglars decamped with valuables worth Rs 50 lakh from a house in Kanpur’s Sachendi area on Saturday night after entering through the roof and locking family members inside their rooms, police said.The incident came to light in the morning when family members woke up and found their room latches bolted from outside.According to information, the burglars stole about Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, 22 tola of gold and 1.5 kg of silver. Family members stated that the thieves entered by scaling the rear wall of the house, latched all rooms from outside, keeping the family locked in throughout the night.The family alleged that the intruders broke the lock of the upper room and collected jewellery and cash kept there, then came downstairs and broke open the almirah and locker, stealing the valuables stored in them. The thieves also fled with items from other rooms in the house, family members said in the complaint.DCP West, SM Qasim Abidi, said that an information was received on 112, following which Sachendi police station personnel, the forensic team and ACP Panki Manoj Singh reached the spot and began the investigation.He said that a case has been registered and an investigation is being carried out. He added that police are scanning CCTV camera footage from the surrounding area. and the case would be solved soon.
