Chatra: The body of an 18-year-old man, who was missing for two days, was found beneath a heap of sand near a riverbank under Rajpur police station limits in the district late on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Pramod Kumar, a resident of Gariya village.Pramod was having dinner on June 5 when he allegedly received a call from a friend, who wanted to meet him near Gariya bridge, and left home, family members informed the police. Pramod did not return at night, and his mobile phone was later found switched off. His motorcycle was found parked near the bridge the next morning.Local police were tipped off about a body that had been buried beneath a heap of sand near the riverbank at Gambharia village in Kanhachatti block. On Sunday, a police team recovered the body. Pramod’s family members identified his body. The kin alleged he was murdered and buried to remove evidence.Police teams, along with a forensic expert, reached the site and collected evidence. A police team led by sub-divisional police officer Sunny Vardhan is investigating the case.Sandeep Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Rajpur police station, on Monday said the body was sent to Chatra Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination. “The deceased’s call details are being examined, and several people have been detained on suspicion and being questioned,” Kumar said. Postmortem report will reveal the cause of death, he added.
