A video shared by entrepreneur Akash Gupta has started a discussion online after he met a cab driver and spoke about his work and earnings. In the clip, the driver shared how he moved away from a regular office job and started driving full-time, which helped him earn more than before.

The founder described the conversation as an example of how India’s gig economy is changing work. He called such workers “gig entrepreneurs,” saying many people are now choosing flexible jobs over fixed salaries. The driver also spoke about how the switch gave him more control over his time and daily routine.

He Says He Left A Low-Paying Office Job For Driving

During the conversation, Gupta asked the driver about his decision to leave his earlier job. The driver said he used to work a 9-to-5 office job with a monthly salary of Rs 25,000. He explained that the income was low and did not match his needs.

He then shared that after switching to cab driving, his monthly earnings increased to around Rs 1 lakh. He said the change also gave him freedom to choose when and how much he wants to work, instead of fixed office hours.

He Talks About Freedom And Working On His Own Terms

The driver explained that driving his own cab gave him control over his schedule. He can decide his working hours, pick routes, and manage his day without reporting to anyone.

Gupta reacted positively to this and told him that he should see himself as a businessman. He said that managing his own vehicle and income means he is effectively working independently and building his own small business.

Social Media Users React To The “Gig Entrepreneur” Idea

The video led to mixed reactions online. A user wrote, “Respect all gig workers.” Another said, “This is so inspirational.” A person commented, “You are right, bro.”

However, some users disagreed with the idea of calling it entrepreneurship. A comment read, “Bro entrepreneurship is nothing but introducing a new concept, idea, or material in society and this work is not entrepreneurial, it is just a work.” Another user said, “Businessman nahin bhai self employment bolate hain usko.”
