Times News NetworkKanpur:Emphasizing the need to increase farmers’ income through the multi-purpose use of farm ponds, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said that beneficiary farmers should adopt pearl farming along with fish farming in farm ponds. This will increase additional income and make agriculture more profitable and sustainable. On Wednesday, in a meeting of the District Land and Water Conservation Committee, District Mission Committee, and WCDC-PMKSY 2.0 Committee held under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate at the Vikas Bhavan auditorium, the works of 2025-26 were reviewed and the action plan for 2026-27 was discussed.In the meeting, Land Conservation Officer presented the works carried out in 2025-26 under various schemes operated by the agriculture department (Land Conservation Unit), compliance with the instructions of the previous meeting, and the proposed action plan and physical and financial targets for 2026-27. In the meeting, approval was given to the selected beneficiary farmers for the construction of 15 farm ponds in 2026-27 under the National Agriculture Development Scheme. There is a provision of subsidy at 50 percent or a maximum of Rs 52,500 on a cost of Rs 1.05 lakh per pond.
