The Finance portfolio was allocated to Jayanta Malla Baruah, considered a close aide of the chief minister. Bimal Borah was entrusted with Cultural Affairs, Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, and Act East Policy Affairs.

Announcing the allocation on X, Sarma said, “With the approval of the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, I am pleased to announce the allocation of portfolios amongst the members of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Assam.”

The 12 ministers received the oath of office on June 5. Earlier, four ministers were sworn in alongside Sarma on May 12, and their portfolios had already been announced.

The BJP achieved a landslide victory in the recently-concluded polls, winning 82 out of 126 seats. The NDA alliance won 102 seats in total while the Congress fell to its lowest-ever tally of 19.
