Ambernath BJP-MNS clash: Case registered against 2 BJP corporators, five others
A new case was filed against seven individuals, including two BJP corporators, following a clash.

AMBERNATH: The political clash between BJP and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers in Ambernath has taken a fresh turn, with Shivaji Nagar police registering a fresh case against seven people, including two BJP corporators, on the complaint of an MNS worker who was injured in the incident. The latest case was registered on Sunday on the complaint of Suhas Ghag, a relative of MNS Ambernath city chief Shailesh Shirke, who was also injured in the clash. Police have booked BJP corporators Abhijit Karanjule and Pawan Walekar along with five others under sections 118(1), 115(2), 189(2), 190, 191(2) and 324(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The development comes days after police arrested Shirke and some of his associates for allegedly assaulting BJP office-bearer Laxmi Narayan Chauhan at his office in Vadavali.A subsequent clash between BJP and MNS workers at Shivaji Nagar police station further escalated tensions.MNS leaders had alleged that police took one-sided action by arresting their office-bearers while failing to act against BJP workers allegedly involved in the assault on Shirke. MNS leader Avinash Jadhav had demanded action against those responsible.Following the demand, MNS district president Bandu Deshmukh had announced a protest on Sunday against what the party termed one-sided police action. However, after police registered an FIR against BJP workers, MNS withdrew its protest.
