CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday said the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) would function as a pressure group for now, saying that is what India needs at the moment.Speaking to the media ahead of the party’s core team meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dipke said the discussions would focus on the declining public trust in institutions such as the media and the judiciary. The meeting will also take up issues including ethanol-blended fuel and rising unemployment.“For now, CJP will be a pressure group, as what India needs now is a pressure group,” Dipke said.CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said activist Sonam Wangchuk would continue to mentor the party and that its leaders would seek his guidance.Das said the party would push for the withdrawal of FIRs against students who took part in the recent CJP-led protests over the NEET paper leak and other examination irregularities.“We are talking with government representatives on this issue,” he said.Das also said the party was working to provide legal and medical assistance to protesters injured during the recent student agitations across the country.Dipke returned to India from the US in June to lead protests over the NEET-UG paper leak. The movement drew students from across the country to Delhi, demanding reforms in the examination system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.The protests received widespread support from Gen Z across the country and led to Pradhan’s resignation last week.The CJP’s movement later spread to several cities, but demonstrations turned violent in some places. Police cracked down on student protesters in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bihar, registering cases against several participants.
