Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (Aapsu) on Tuesday urged the Union ministry of education to immediately relieve North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (Nerist) director Prof Narendranath S from his post, alleging prolonged administrative instability, recruitment irregularities and non-compliance with statutory decisions at the premier technical institute.In a five-page representation addressed to Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Aapsu sought the director’s removal and the appointment of the senior-most professor as director-in charge in accordance with the institute’s Memorandum of Association (MoA), pending the appointment of a regular director.The students’ body claimed that Nerist, Nirjuli, has witnessed months of administrative turmoil, repeated controversies over recruitment rules, reported financial irregularities and growing dissatisfaction among students, faculty and employees, adversely affecting the institution’s academic environment and governance.
