Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation is set to create a new urban green space in the Kalindipuram area of the city by developing a maze-themed Miyawaki park spread over nearly 22 bighas.Planned at a cost of Rs 3.31 crore, the project is intended to serve as a recreational hub where families can spend time amid dense greenery and modern outdoor amenities. The civic body has already invited bids for the work. What makes the project distinct is its blend of a labyrinth-style park with Miyawaki plantation, a method of dense afforestation using native species. Officials say the idea is not just to create an attraction for visitors but also to strengthen the city’s green cover and support urban biodiversity. The park layout will include a network of pathways running through thick plantation designed to resemble a forest trail. Alongside the maze, the facility will have a yoga area, open-air gym, children’s play section, lawns, seating corners, decorative rock features and raised landscaped sections. Toilets, urinals, bins and solar-powered lighting arrangements will also be part of the project.According to the plan, vegetation will be planted in multiple layers, including shrubs, smaller trees, larger trees and canopy cover, so that the area develops into a compact and self-sustaining ecosystem suited to local weather conditions.Municipal corporation executive engineer, Anil Kumar Maurya, who conceived the project, said the proposed site would offer visitors the feel of walking through a dense jungle rather than an ornamental park.He said the civic body has already developed one Miyawaki park in Naini’s industrial zone, and another is currently being prepared there.Maurya added that after the maze park at Rura in Kanpur, the Kalindipuram facility is expected to be the second such park in Uttar Pradesh.
