Gurgaon: The enforcement wing of the town and country planning department (DTCP) on Wednesday carried out a sealing and demolition drive in the city.The drive was carried out against unauthorised structures at multiple residential and commercial properties with support from police personnel of Sector 50 police station. The action included demolition of an internal wall and an unauthorised khokha (vend) and sealing of a servant room.Authorities said notices were issued and due procedure under the law was followed before the demolition and sealing operations were carried out. Officials said the action was taken after complaints were received through various grievance portals and after following due legal procedure.At Universal Trade Tower in Sector 49, officials demolished an unauthorised internal wall allegedly constructed in a common area of the commercial complex. The premises were later sealed by the enforcement team. Authorities said the structure was raised without approval and was found to be in violation of building norms.At Uppal Southend, officials demolished an unauthorised khokha following complaints received through the Human Rights Commission and other public complaint platforms. The enforcement team removed the structure in the presence of police personnel to avoid any law and order situation during the operation.At Aspen Greens in Nirwana Country, authorities sealed an illegal servant room constructed in the stilt area of a residential block. Officials said the action was initiated after a complaint was lodged through the CM Window portal. The structure was allegedly developed in violation of approved building plans and norms governing common and stilt areas in residential societies.Officials involved in the drive said encroachments and unauthorised constructions in common areas, stilts and commercial spaces have become a growing concern in several parts of Gurgaon. They added that such structures not only violate development regulations but also create safety hazards and inconvenience for residents and visitors.The team also warned property owners and occupants against carrying out illegal constructions or encroachments in the area. Officials said similar drives would continue in the coming weeks based on complaints and field inspections across the city.Residents of some societies welcomed the action, saying unauthorised additions in common areas often lead to disputes, obstruction of movement and misuse of shared spaces. Authorities urged citizens to report illegal constructions through official complaint portals for timely action.
