In April 2026, Kia announced its long-term strategy for the Indian market. The plan outlines 10 new models by 2030 including 8 electrified offerings with an aim to achieve over 4 lakh annual sales. At its 2026 Investor Day, the carmaker confirmed the launches of the Kia Syros EV, Kia Sorento three-row hybrid SUV and Carnival Hybrid MPV. While Kia India has yet to confirmed the launch timeline of the electric Syros, the model is reported to hit showrooms in August 2026.

Expected Price Range

Once launched, the Kia Syros EV will be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO. These EVs are currently priced between Rs 12.49 lakh – Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 13.89 lakh – Rs 14.96 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Prices of the Syros EV are expected to start around Rs 15 lakh and go up to Rs 20 lakh for the top variant (ex-showroom). If launched at this price point, it will become the most affordable Kia EV in India.

Kia Syros EV India Launch

Our Opinion

The entry-level EV SUV segment is certainly one of the most volume generating categories for OEMs. Competition will further get intensify with the arrival of the Syros EV, giving buyers more options across a wide price range.

The ICE-powered Kia Syros offers the most premium and feature-packed interior in its segment; however, its design has received mixed reactions. If Kia retains these key USPs, the electric iteration of the Syros EV is expected to emerge as a strong contender in the segment.

To Share Powertrain With Hyundai Inster EV?

As of now, there is no information about its powertrain. However, the Kia Syros EV is likely to borrow the 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs from the Hyundai Inster EV. Its driving range is expected to be over 370km per charge.

EV-Specific Changes

Kia will make a few EV-specific design and software upgrades to the Syros EV including a charging flap on the front fender, revised front and rear bumpers, newly-designed alloy wheels and V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) functionalities. The carmaker might also equip the EV SUV with an ADAS suite.
