Four cow smugglers arrested after encounter

Times News NetworkKanpur: Police arrested four cow smugglers including two brothers following an encounter in Kanpur late Sunday night. In the police’s retaliatory action, two brothers were shot in the leg and have been admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai hospital for treatment.Police recovered one bovine, a country-made pistol, a chopper, a plastic sack, and other items from the accused. The incident is from the Juhi police station area.DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary said that the Crime Branch and ADCP operation had received information that some people buy bovines at cheap prices from the Rawatpur area, take them near the Parampurwa railway track, and slaughter them there.After the information, three teams of Juhi police were deployed in search of the accused. At around 12:30 am on Sunday night, the police team spotted four people with a bovine near the railway track. Police tried to stop them, but the accused ran away. Police chased and caught Amir of Chamanganj and Shyamji Tiwari of Raipurwa. Meanwhile, the real brothers Chand Alam and Rehan alias Saddam, residents of Parampurwa, fled from the spot.During the search for the absconding accused, the police found both brothers hiding in the bushes alongside the railway track. According to the police, to avoid arrest, both opened fire. In the retaliatory action, both Chand Alam and Rehan were shot in the right leg. DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary said the arrested accused have previously been to jail in cow smuggling cases. Their criminal records are being investigated. The police are also engaged in searching for other members of the gang.
