Ram Charan has sparked a fresh wave of debate by declaring ‘Peddi’ one of the top two films of his career, a statement that has left a section of his fanbase divided. Netizens argued that his remark diminishes his iconic collaborations with SS Rajamouli and Sukumar on RRR, ‘Magadheera’, and ‘Rangasthalam’.
Ram Charan’s big statement at the Hyderabad press meet post success of ‘Peddi’
At a thank-you meet held in Hyderabad, Ram Charan spoke about the growing box office momentum of ‘Peddi’, which has already surpassed Rs 300 crore worldwide. Reflecting on the audience response during a personal theatre visit, the actor made a striking claim about where the film stands in his filmography. The Hindustan Times quoted him saying at the event, “I chose a calm theatre in our city, but the reaction from the audience for scenes has made my day. I am getting claps for certain scenes, which I didn’t expect. In fact, this film will be placed first or second in my film library.”
Netizens react to Ram Charan’s comment
The statement did not go down well with a significant section of Ram Charan’s fanbase. Many took to social media to express their disappointment, pointing out that ranking ‘Peddi’ above or on par with landmark films like ‘RRR’, ‘Magadheera’, and ‘Rangasthalam’ was a disservice to the iconic directors behind those projects. One Reddit user summed up the sentiment bluntly: “If Peddi is better than Rangasthalam, Magadheera, RRR then it’s an insult to SSR and Sukumar.” Another one added, “Wow so basically he decides to make himself look dumb in front of everyone. This shows the team’s involvement in agreeing to the vulgarity of Peddi. I’m glad telugu audiences are rejecting such tropes. We deserve better and meaningful romance with strong chemistry.“

Controversy around ‘Peddi’
The film has faced considerable backlash from a section of viewers over what they describe as the hypersexualisation of Janhvi Kapoor’s character. Director Buchi Babu Sana has since addressed the criticism, confirming that certain problematic scenes have been removed.Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles.
