Hours after a rebellion intensified in the Trinamool Congress (TMC), with a group of dissident MPs deciding to support the NDA, senior party parliamentarian Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar on Monday accused party supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of instructing “someone” to hurl abuses at her after she stepped down from all organisational party posts last month.
Speaking to ANI, Dastidar said, “I have been with Mamata Banerjee for 40 years. I never imagined I would live to see a day when she would instruct someone to hurl abuse at me…”

Kakoli Ghosh Opens Up On Rift With TMC
When asked if Banerjee tried to reach out to her after she tendered her resignation, the TMP MP claimed, “No one from that side tried to reach out.” She alleged being ignored by the party, saying she was “simply cast aside.”
The TMC leader further cited Bengal poll loss as the reason behind her quitting the posts. “When I was the District Chairperson and the election results showed a poor outcome, I took personal responsibility, thinking perhaps I hadn’t performed my role effectively and stepped down,” she said.
‘I Was Cast Aside’
“Even after that, no one met me or even called; I was simply cast aside. It was as if they unleashed someone to bark…,” she further stated.
Without providing much details about how the rebel faction would function, she added that it will work to keep the country secure, claiming that national security is paramount to the rebel group.
“We will find out what happens later. For now, isn’t it enough that we want to work for Bengal, for the country, and to keep India secure? This is a crucial issue. The issue of the nation is paramount to us…,” she remarked.
Later in the day, Dastidar spoke exclusively to CNN-News18. Explaining her decision to back the NDA, she said that she had grown increasingly disillusioned with the party over the past few years, citing concerns over governance, development and several controversies, including RG KR rape-murder incident, that have surfaced in the state.
“It’s in public what the party has been doing for the last 3 to 4 years. For a person like me, who is at 67 years of age and has been with Mamata Banerjee for 40 years, I was not expecting these events,” she remarked.
She said the outcome of the recent Assembly elections reflected public dissatisfaction and argued that political leaders must respect the people’s mandate.
“…Besides that, there is no development, there is no industry. Everything has been lopsided. The film industry, the persons, the educationists, appointments in the education sector, appointments in the municipal sector, everything has been tampered with, and that is coming to the front. We didn’t expect this, so I was very unhappy for the past few years. In spite of these issues, we were not given a chance to improve the whole system and the people of the state have a point. They have given a verdict against this.”
“To respect the verdict of the people of Bengal, I have sided with the people of Bengal. Along with me, 19 MPs have signed the document,” Dastidar said, asserting that a significant section of the party’s parliamentary contingent had chosen to align with the NDA.
