Following the directives issued by the District Collector, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner and the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) Commissioner, a survey was carried out across the Visakhapatnam district on Thursday (May 28, 2026) to plan public transport for the coming Bhogapuram airport.
The aim of the exercise was to study passenger transit patterns and identify suitable locations for new bus stops to ensure easy access for travellers heading to the airport, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) regional manager B. Appala Naidu said.
The inspection team included Mr. Appala Naidu, GVMC City Planner Dhanunjaya Reddy, Rajesh, and officials from GMR and the Bhogapuram Airport project.
The team looked at existing bus stops and possible new sites to integrate them into the airport’s transport network. The exercise aims to set up a wide network of bus services that will give passengers a clear connection to and from the new airport.
