Her inclusion marks another milestone in the political rise of the former fashion designer who transitioned from the world of couture to frontline politics.
Paul first entered public life as a noted fashion designer before joining the BJP in 2019, during the party’s aggressive expansion push in West Bengal. According to Hindustan Times, she quickly emerged as one of the BJP’s most vocal women leaders in the state, frequently taking on former chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress in political debates and street campaigns.

At the same time, her political career has not been without controversy. Hindustan Times reported that multiple criminal cases, largely linked to protests, political demonstrations, and clashes during agitation campaigns, have been registered against her over the years, a reality not uncommon in Bengal’s combative political landscape.
Now sworn in as a cabinet minister in the BJP government, Paul is expected to play a key role in shaping the party’s governance narrative in Bengal, especially on women-centric outreach and urban political messaging. Her induction also signals the BJP’s attempt to balance ideological mobilisation with newer public faces capable of appealing beyond the party’s traditional cadre base.
