Two drowning teens at Kashid beach rescued using robotic buoy in Maharashtra

Navi Mumbai: Two tourists – Atharv Gaikwad (19) and Sumit Bhujbal (17) – from Shikrapur, Pune were saved from being drowned off Kashid beach in Murud taluka using the robotic watercraft on Friday evening. The duo had entered the sea for a swim but fell prey to high tide waves. The duo knew how to swim and therefore struggled in the sea for 15 minutes. With this successful operation, the total number of rescues through the robotic buoy has gone up to six in less than a month.Constable Pravin Rotkar said, “The waves were coming in the way between the two and the watercraft, which was also toppling. Two lifeguards Arfat Saudagar and Shubham Lad had entered the sea.” He added, “The group and others present at the beach were among those who were alerted not to venture into the water.” Recently, a couple from Pune were also rescued from the beach using the robotic watercraft.
