Bengaluru’s traffic problems have once again become a talking point after a Google employee shared how a short office commute turned into a frustrating experience. The techie said it took him 45 minutes to travel just 4 kilometres to work, something that usually takes under 10 minutes.

His video struck a chord with many office-goers in the city, who related to the daily struggle of getting stuck on crowded roads despite living close to their workplaces. Several users also questioned the state of infrastructure and traffic management in Bengaluru.

Techie Shares Frustrating Commute

The video was posted on Instagram by Venkatesh D, who works at Google. In the clip, he explained how his usual 9 to 10-minute drive became a 45-minute crawl because of traffic congestion.

“So, I live 4 kilometers, almost approximately 4 kilometers from my office and it took me 45 minutes to reach to office today. What takes me like 9 to 10 minutes to come to office took me 45 minutes. It’s 10:00 am in the morning I left my home and I’m reaching here, it’s 10:45. Yaar, hamare taxes jaa kahan rahe hain, bhai?” he said in the video.

He also spoke about the pressure of paying high taxes while dealing with poor road conditions and long travel times.

“There have been months where I’ve paid more taxes than I’ve gotten my salary, and it’s not just me, I’m sure there are thousands and lakhs of other people who do this. But it is so frustrating and infuriates the hell out of me like what’s going on,” he added.

The clip was posted with the caption, “Paying premium taxes just to experience a premium crawling speed.”

Internet Relates To The Traffic Issue

The video quickly received reactions from people who said they face similar problems every day in Bengaluru.

A user wrote, “This is the everyday reality of Bengaluru traffic.” Another commented, “Four kilometres in 45 minutes is not commuting, it is punishment.”

A person said, “The frustration is real because people pay so much tax and still get poor infrastructure.”

Many users also spoke about how the city’s roads are struggling to handle the growing number of vehicles. “Bengaluru needs serious traffic planning, not just flyovers everywhere,” a comment read. Another user added, “This is why people are asking for work from home again.”

A different comment said, “Every office goer in Bengaluru has felt this pain at least once.” A person also pointed out, “The roads cannot handle the number of vehicles anymore.”
