Ahmedabad: A 50-year-old tutor endured months of alleged harassment after rejecting a marriage proposal from a former student less than half her age. The woman had asked the 22-year-old to stop attending her classes after his course ended. Instead, he allegedly stalked her for months, repeatedly called her, confronted her with a knife, and threatened to take his own life if she refused to speak to him.Vejalpur police booked him for stalking and criminal intimidation after she filed a complaint on Saturday.The complainant, who is married and has two sons aged 28 and 24, conducts spoken English classes at her home in Juhapura. According to the FIR, the youth attended her classes for nearly a year. In Dec 2025, as his course was ending, he allegedly told the tutor that he wanted to marry her.The woman rejected the proposal, telling him that she was about his mother’s age and advising him to concentrate on his career.The complainant alleged that the 22-year-old continued to call and message her. He allegedly pressured her to speak to him and threatened to create a scene outside her home and defame her if she did not respond.In April, he allegedly arrived at her home carrying a knife and tried to intimidate her, the FIR states.The most recent episode unfolded on Friday night when the youth allegedly called the tutor several times. When she did not answer, he began calling one of her sons, according to the complaint.He later allegedly sent a photograph to the WhatsApp account used for her classes, claiming that he was on the 15th floor of a building and would jump off the building if she did not speak to him. Fearing for his safety, the woman persuaded him to come down.She alleged that the man resumed calling her on Saturday morning, prompting her to approach Vejalpur police.
