Wardha: The local crime branch conducted a raid and uncovered cannabis cultivation beside a house in Hamadapur village under Dahegaon police station limits in Wardha district. The accused, Praful Tulsiram Shambharkar, was caught cultivating cannabis plants near the compound.Police seized two large cannabis plants along with leaves, branches and roots. The seized cannabis weighed 4.9 kg and valued at approximately Rs82,000, police said.Police said the Shambharkar allegedly cultivated the plants without obtaining any permission. The action was taken as part of a district-wide anti-narcotics campaign launched on the directions of Wardha superintendent of police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal.A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at Dahegaon police station.The operation was carried out under the guidance of additional superintendent of police Sadashiv Waghmare and led by local crime branch police inspector Vinod Chaudhary. Police sub-inspector Salam Qureshi and the local crime branch team participated in the operation.
