Coimbatore: A 6-year-old girl died after a truck hit the two-wheeler she was traveling on with her mother, on the Thudiyalur–Saravanampatti road on Friday morning. The traffic investigation wing (West) of Coimbatore city arrested two people in connection with the incident.The deceased child has been identified as J Niralya, 6, a Class I student at a private school in Thudiyalur. Her father, Jaganathan, works for a private company, while her mother, Divya, is employed at the same school where Niralya studied. The family resides in Pannimadai near Coimbatore.Police said the accident took place when Divya was riding her two-wheeler to drop Niralya off at school. As they reached Vellakinar, a passing truck rammed their vehicle, causing mother and daughter to fall to the ground. Trapped beneath the vehicle, Niralya was run over by the truck’s rear wheels and died on the spot.Police recovered the child’s body and launched an investigation. They subsequently arrested Marimuthu, 52, of Namakkal, the truck driver, for reckless driving; and Vijayan, a local Xerox shop owner, who had illegally placed a commercial signboard projecting onto the roadway, obstructing traffic and contributing to the collision.A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
