Chandrapur: A 42-year-old man was killed after his scooter reportedly skidded due to loose gravel on the road and he was run over by a truck on the Chandrapur-Nagpur national highway near Ghodepeth on Sunday afternoon.The deceased, Anil Sudhakar Bawane of Shivajinagar in Bhadrawati, was travelling to Chandrapur on his scooter when he lost control of the vehicle. As per police, the scooter skidded on loose gravel scattered on the highway. Moments later, a truck ran over him, killing him on the spot.Police said Bawane was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. However, the impact was so severe that the helmet was badly damagedBhadrawati police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the rural hospital for post-mortem. Traffic on the highway was briefly disrupted following the accident. Further probe is on.
