GURGAON: Four members of a family were seriously injured after a speeding black Mahindra Thar rammed into their car near Sohna Chowk, just metres from the Police Commissioner’s office, early on Friday morning. The accident occurred around 6am-6.30am when the Chadha family was returning home after a morning walk. Police said the family had stopped near Sohna Chowk for tea before resuming their journey. As their car was taking a turn onto the main road, it was hit by the speeding SUV. The impact was so severe that the family’s car was extensively damaged, while the Thar overturned after the collision. The injured were identified as Divyansh Chadha, Yashika Chadha, Lavi Chadha and Meenakshi Chadha. They were rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby and local residents, where they are undergoing treatment. Eyewitnesses said the Thar was travelling at a very high speed when it struck the car, with the force of the collision causing the SUV to overturn. According to people present at the scene and the injured family’s relatives, the occupants of the Thar appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. People also recorded videos and took photographs of the occupants of the SUV. They alleged that three young men were travelling in the vehicle. Following the crash, two of them fled the spot, while one was caught by local residents before police arrived. Police reached the scene soon after the accident, seized both vehicles and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and the allegations that the driver was intoxicated are also being verified. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
