He reached this milestone in Dharamsala against Afghanistan on 13 June 2026, which made him the second quickest among 177 batters who have achieved 3000-plus runs in ODI cricket. South African Hashim Amla, who did it in five innings fewer than Gill, is way ahead of the rest of the players. Shreyas Iyer, in the second ODI in Lucknow on 17 June 2026, joined Shubman Gill and became the 22nd Indian to reach 3000 ODI runs. He needed 72 innings to reach this tally, thus making him the joint second-quickest for India after Shubman Gill.
