KALYAN: Days after a fatal stabbing over a seat dispute in a Mumbai local train sent shockwaves among commuters, another quarrel over a seat turned violent, leaving three passengers injured. The Dombivli Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered cross FIRs and launched an investigation into the incident.The clash took place late on Wednesday night in a Central Railway local travelling from CSMT towards Ambernath between Dombivli and Thakurli stations. According to police, Pritesh Kanojia (21), a resident of Titwala, had boarded the train at Ghatkopar. After the train emptied at Diva, he allegedly lay down on a seat and fell asleep.At Dombivli station, Raju Waghe (19) and Sahil Khandare (19), both garage workers from Dombivli, boarded the train for Kalyan. They allegedly objected to Kanojia occupying the seat while sleeping, leading to an argument that soon escalated into a scuffle. Police said Waghe, who was allegedly wearing a bangle (kada), struck Kanojia on the head, injuring him.According to Kanojia, when train reached Thakurli few passengers who noticed his injuries came to his aid and assaulted Waghe and Khandare. All three later reached Kalyan station in the same train, where GRP personnel intervened and shifted them to Rukminibai Hospital before they were referred to Sion Hospital for further treatment.Senior Police Inspector Balasaheb Thorat said preliminary investigations revealed that both sides suffered injuries, prompting the registration of cross FIRs. Police are verifying the identity of those who allegedly assaulted Waghe and Khandare. All three injured will be arrested after being discharged from hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
