The next-generation Hyundai i20 has been leaked ahead of its official world debut during the FIFA World Cup 2026. The hatchback now carries a crossover-inspired design language with a more upright stance and sporty black cladding. The interior appears to be completely new and significantly more tech-loaded than the current generation.

While the engine specifications are still under the wraps. The new 2027 Hyundai i20 is likely to be offered with updated turbo petrol mild hybrid powertrains in global markets.

More Premium Interior
Starting with the interior, the new Hyundai i20 features a large panoramic curved display, performing infotainment and instrument functionalities. The newly-designed dual-tone dashboard, a new three-spoke steering wheel, slimmer vertically positioned air-conditioning vents with the climate controls placed between them and partially leather door pads add more to its premium look and feel.
Crossover-ish Design
The boxier stance and jacked up profile hint that the new i20 will have improved cabin space and better headroom for occupants. Similar to the current model, the next-gen i20 continues to offer split-folding rear seats.
The front facia looks refreshing with new arrowhead-shaped headlamps with Y-shaped LED DRLs connected via an LED strip. Other key highlights include newly-designed alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars and connected LED taillamps.
Engine & Gearbox Options
In India, the 2027 Hyundai i20 is expected to retain the existing 83PS, 1.2L Kappa petrol and 88PS, 1.0L turbo petrol engines. While the naturally aspirated petrol engine is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol engine comes paired with an iVT automatic transmission. FWD (front-wheel drive) system will remain standard across the lineup.
The 1.2L Kappa petrol-powered variants are claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 20.35kmpl, while the turbo petrol model offers a mileage of 19.65kmpl. Both engines are E20 compatible. In global markets, the new Hyundai i20 could be offered with the updated petrol mild hybrid powertrain options.
