Launched in 2015, the Renault Kwid has always been admired for its SUV-ish styling, low running costs and attractive pricing. While the hatchback received an overwhelming response initially, its sales have declined steadily over the years due to the lack of a major update, limited powertrain options and a shift in buyer preference towards safer and more premium vehicles. The shrinking entry-level hatchback segment has also been among the major reasons behind its declining sales.

Dacia Spring-Inspired Design
Renault India is now gearing up to introduce the updated Kwid on July 3, 2026. The updated model lineup will derive design inspiration from the Dacia Spring sold in the European markets. Previous spy images suggest that the hatchback could feature Duster-inspired Y-shaped LED DRLs and taillamps.
Other design updates are likely to include receive slightly tweaked front and rear bumpers along with new pentagonal halogen headlamps. The new 2026 Renault Kwid is likely to borrow elements such as the flap door handles, pronounced wheel arches, a slightly sloping roofline and sharply designed fenders from the Dacia Spring.
Upgraded Interior
Spy shots indicate that the new Renault Kwid will come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system (measuring around 10-inches), a new instrument console and a newly-designed steering wheel. Renault might also improve the hatchback’s value proposition by introducing new features. Additionally, the material quality, fit and finish could also be classed-up.
Petrol Engine
Mechanically, the new 2026 Renault Kwid facelift is likely to remain unchanged. The hatchback lineup will continue to be available with the 68bhp, 1.0L petrol engine, paired either with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.
Expected Price & Rivals
The Renault Kwid is currently available within the price range of Rs 4.70 lakh – Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering the subtle design changes and feature enhancements, the updated lineup is expected to see a marginal price increase. In the entry-level hatchback segment, it will continue to take on the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10.
