Jaipur: Two people were killed and another sustained serious injuries after a speeding SUV lost control on a rain-soaked stretch of Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Bagru, overturned multiple times and crashed into a divider Friday, police said. The accident occurred around 2 am near Bad ke Balaji under Bagru police station area.The deceased were identified as Aman Man (21), a resident of Srimadhopur in Sikar district, and Revati (24), a resident of Dungargarh in Bikaner district. Nitesh (24), a resident of Jhadli in Sikar district, suffered serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.According to the preliminary investigation, the SUV was heading towards Jaipur at high speed when it hit a waterlogged stretch of the highway. Police said rainwater splashed onto the windscreen, severely reducing the driver’s visibility. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which overturned three times before crashing into the road divider. Investigators said one of the tyres also burst during the crash, causing further damage to the vehicle.The impact mangled the SUV, trapping all three occupants inside. Police, assisted by local residents, launched a rescue operation and pulled them out after considerable effort. The occupants were reportedly trapped between the seats, dashboard and steering assembly due to the force of the collision.All three were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Aman and Revati dead on arrival. Nitesh was admitted with serious injuries and remains under treatment.Police shifted the bodies to Bagru Community Health Centre mortuary for post-mortem before handing them over to their families.Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and poor visibility caused by heavy rain may have contributed to the accident, though the investigation is continuing.
