18-yr-old girl shot at in Farrukhabad

Kanpur: An 18-year-old woman sustained a bullet injury to her right leg after a man known to her allegedly opened fire at her and fled the scene.The incident took place on the third floor of a rented house in Bahadurganj, under the Maudarwaza police station limits in Farrukhabad.According to police, the bullet hit her right leg and exited from the other side. On receiving information, station house officer Ajab Singh reached the spot with police personnel and rushed the injured woman to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment.Later, additional superintendent of police Girish Kumar Singh and CO (City) Abhay Verma also reached Lohia Hospital and enquired about the condition of the woman and her mother.In her statement to police, the injured woman said the accused, aged 25, was a frequent visitor to her house and that she had known him for the past one-and-a-half years.She said that on Thursday, an argument broke out between them, following which he began threatening to kill her and her family.She added that she feared the man would harm her mother, and when she intervened, he shot her and fled.Additional SP Girish Kumar Singh said a case is being registered based on a written complaint from the family and raids are underway to arrest the accused.
