Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued strict instructions to officials regarding the ongoing heat wave situation in the state and directed all departments to remain on alert mode.
The Chief Minister instructed district magistrates, the health department, the electricity department and relief agencies to stay alert and closely monitor the situation. He also directed senior officials to keep a special watch on hospitals, drinking water supply and electricity supply arrangements.
Yogi Adityanath ordered authorities to ensure adequate arrangements in government hospitals for the treatment of patients affected by heat stroke. He also directed all departments to remain vigilant regarding relief and rescue operations.
Appealing to the public to stay cautious during the heat wave, the Chief Minister advised people to take preventive measures to avoid heat-related illnesses. He urged citizens to take special care of children and elderly people and asked them to wear loose cotton or khadi clothes.
The Chief Minister also warned against any negligence that could lead to fire incidents and instructed officials to pay special attention to protecting workers from exhaustion, dehydration and heat stroke.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s review meeting, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand criticised the BJP government over electricity supply in the state.
He said the BJP government has been in power in Uttar Pradesh for more than nine years and also runs the government at the Centre, but whenever temperatures rise, winter intensifies or electricity demand increases, the government appears completely unsuccessful in providing uninterrupted power supply.
Fakhrul Hasan Chand said the government makes big promises of supplying electricity to every village and city, but is still only presenting figures instead of ensuring proper electricity supply. He alleged that the government continues to blame opposition parties, previous governments and employees instead of improving the power system.
The Samajwadi Party spokesperson further said the BJP government appears unsuccessful on every front and keeps holding the opposition responsible for its shortcomings and failures. He added that people will change such a government in the 2027 elections.
