A sub-inspector (SI) of police in Dindigul district was placed under suspension after he was allegedly found to have been misbehaving with a complainant by sending SMS to her mobile number.
Police said on Sunday (May 24, 2026) that Rajagopal worked as SI of Police in Palani Taluk police station. A woman had visited the station a few days ago and discussed with the officer about a problem she was facing. After taking down her number, the police officer had reportedly sent unsolicited messages.
Shocked, the lady had taken it up with the higher authorities. Based on preliminary inquiry and the confession, the police sent a report to the DIG of Police (Dindigul Range).
It is said that the SI of Police was placed under suspension pending further inquiry and departmental action.
