A Junior Engineer at the Third Zone office of Tiruppur City Corporation was arrested by the sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for demanding and accepting ₹5 lakh bribe from a contractor of road works.
Based on a complaint lodged by the contractor Murugan that the Junior Engineer Subramanian had demanded ₹8.4 lakh as bribe to pass the bills for the road works undertaken, and had asked for ₹5 lakh as first instalment, the DVAC unit in Tiruppur registered a case, and arrested the official while accepting the money.
