Gorakhpur: A 30-year-old man, who was found critically injured with stab wounds in Gorakhpur’s Harpur Budhat area, succumbed to injuries at BRD Medical College on Monday morning, nearly 24 hours after being admitted to hospital.The deceased, Premsagar Yadav of Harpur Budhat, had left his home on Saturday evening, telling family that he was going to the market on his motorcycle. When he did not return till late night, relatives launched a search but failed to trace him.On Sunday morning, villagers spotted a man lying unconscious by roadside near Baijalpur Gram Panchayat Bhawan and alerted the police. A team from Harpur Budhat police station reached the spot and identified him as Premsagar. He was initially taken to CHC Sahjanwa, later referred to the district hospital and subsequently shifted to BRD Medical College after his condition worsened. He died during treatment around 6am on Monday.Police said the victim had sustained serious head injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Based on a complaint lodged by his father Gyanendra Yadav, an FIR was registered against unidentified persons. The case, initially filed under attempt-to-murder charges, will now be converted into a murder case.Premsagar had married Neha Yadav, a resident of Sant Kabir Nagar district, in 2022. The couple had no children. Police are examining all possible angles, including personal enmity, while scanning CCTV footage and analysing technical evidence to identify the attackers., said SP North Gyanendra Kumar.
