Dumka: The special POCSO court in Godda on Friday convicted six men and sentenced them to life imprisonment for the gang-rape of a minor girl in Oct 2024. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each convict, and if they fail to pay the amount, they would get one year’s additional imprisonment.District and sessions judge, Kumar Pawan-cum-special POCSO Judge, delivered the judgement.The convicts were identified as Ramesh Hembram, Jeetendra Baskey, Prakash Hansda, Jeetendra Hansda, Baburam Baskey and Albinus Hembram.According to the FIR lodged by the girl’s mother, the survivor had been communicating with Jeetendra over phone.She travelled to Godda bus stand, from where he allegedly took her to his village. The court, after hearing 10 witnesses, found them guilty under Section 70(2) of the BNS and ordered victim rehabilitation support.
