A Supreme Court bench on Thursday said that the three-language policy should be introduced from Class 6 instead of Class 9. The Supreme Court said that introducing the policy from Class 9 would be stressful for the students who have to sit for Board exams a year later.
Justice BV Nagarathna presiding over a two-judge Bench said this while hearing an appeal by the Tamil Nadu government challenging a Madras High Court direction to facilitate the establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in the State.
The Bench also counselled the state not to oppose every central scheme merely because they come from the Union government.
