Aiming to regain a 50 percent share of India’s passenger vehicle market, Maruti Suzuki has announced an ambitious plan to launch 28 models by 2030-31. These products will be available with nearly a half of dozen powertrain options including petrol, CNG, hybrid, electric and flex-fuel technologies. The carmaker also plans to strengthen its presence in the entry-level sub-4m SUV segment with three new models salted for launch between 2026-2027.

Here’s a look at these upcoming Maruti subcompact SUVs.

Maruti Brezza Facelift

The new Maruti Brezza facelift is likely to arrive near 2026 Diwali season. The SUV is expected to witness minimal cosmetic upgrades and a few feature enhancements. However, the biggest update could be the introduction of the 100bhp, 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine borrowed from the Fronx. The CNG version might also adopt Maruti Suzuki’s underbody-mounted CNG tank setup.

Maruti Micro SUV

The Indo-Japanese automaker recently discontinued the Ignis due to consistently poor sales. A new micro SUV (codenamed Y43) is expected to be introduced as its replacement in 2027. While product details are not available at this moment, the micro-SUV could be offered with multiple powertrain options including a 1.2L petrol mild hybrid, 1.0L turbo petrol and a strong hybrid setup.

Maruti Fronx Facelift

The new Maruti Fronx facelift is expected to receive two major upgrades including an ADAS suite and a strong hybrid powertrain. One of its test mules was spotted with a LIDAR unit mounted on the rear bumper hinting at the presence of an ADAS suite. Features such as a sunroof and ventilated seats could also be part of the package.

Rumour has it that Maruti Suzuki might introduce its in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain on the updated Fronx in 2027. The setup could combine the 1.2L Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with electric motor and a battery pack. Maruti’s own strong hybrid technology is said to be more efficient and cost effective than Toyota’s Atkinson cycle based hybrid system.
