Prayagraj: Govt is committed to ensuring the continuous, natural and unrestricted flow (aviral & nirmal) of the Ganga, said Union minister of state for Jal Shakti, Rajbhushan Chaudhary.“The work and projects under ‘Namami Gange’ is running continuously, and the govt has undertaken numerous initiatives to clean the rivers,” said Chaudhary, adding that population of dolphins, crocodiles, and fish has increased, indicating an improvement in the quality of the Ganga’s water. Various tests have also confirmed that the water has become cleaner and the river’s flow remains uninterrupted. Drains are being plugged and their discharge treated, he claimed.He was in the Sangam City on Wednesday to attend a series of events marking the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi govt. The minister said “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has witnessed overall development across all the sectors in past 12 years. Public awareness regarding water conservation has increased manifold, and such conservation is vital for future generations.”Earlier, the minister cleaned the statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya at Balson Crossing and planted a sapling during an event. As many as 10 sanitation workers were honoured on the occasion.As part of the ‘Pragati Path Yatra’ programme, the minister visited the historic and ancient Dashashwamedh Ghat in Daraganj and inspected the beautification works being undertaken for Mahakumbh and performed aachman by sipping Ganga water. The yatra concluded at statue of Ahilyabai Holkar where the minister paid floral tribute to the queen.BJP functionaries including Vivek Mishra, Anand Sonkar, Pawan Srivastava, Arun Patel and others were present on the occasion.
