New Delhi: The maximum temperature is likely to remain below 40 degrees Celsius over the next few days. India Meteorological Department said there are chances of rain and thunderstorms till June 21 but no colour coded warning has been issued for the same.The maximum temperature on Wednesday rose to 38.1 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. It was 33.3 degrees Celsius a day earlier. No rain was received from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. “A rise in maximum temperature by 3-4 degrees Celsius is likely during the next three days, fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected during the subsequent 24 hours. However, it may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter,” said a Met official.The minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal. It was 25.7 degrees Celsius the previous day. The minimum temperature is expected to remain between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius on Thursday.In June so far, Safdarjung, which is the city’s base station, logged 31.2 mm of rainfall. The normal rainfall for the entire month is 74.1 mm. The normal monsoon onset date for Delhi is June 27.Delhi’s air quality, meanwhile, dipped to the ‘satisfactory’ category with an AQI of 92. It was 116 in the ‘moderate’ range Tuesday.
