Investors lose Rs 6 crore in SLV Mahila Mart scam: Tumakuru cops

Bengaluru: Tumakuru police said victims have lost at least Rs 6 crore in the alleged SLV Mahila Mart scam.A women-led retail supermarket franchise offering work-from-home packing business, the firm collected investments from over 100 victims in Tumakuru and nearby places, police said.A senior officer said the firm, in addition to work-from-home facility, offered a monthly return of Rs 26,000 for every Rs 1 lakh deposited.Till Tuesday, 48 victims have filed complaints. “Some of the victims made their friends and relatives invest in the franchise,” an investigating officer said.Hundreds of victims from Haveri in North Karnataka filed similar police complaints against SLV Mahila Mart and its office-bearers, accusing them of duping their investment money as well as commission. Haveri police estimated the racket to be between Rs 6 crore-Rs 8 crore.
