Three children drown in Banda’s Chandrawal river

Kanpur: Two siblings and their cousin drowned while bathing in a river in Banda on Monday morning. All three bodies were found following a two-hour search. A video appeared on social media, showing one girl on the riverbank, while two boys can be seen swimming in the river.The incident occurred in Gauri village under the Jaspura police station area. The four siblings went to bathe in the river in the morning. The elder brother remained on the riverbank, while the sister, her younger brother and their cousin got into the river. All three drifted into deeper water and started to drown. The elder brother of the siblings jumped into the river to rescue them, but by that time all three had drowned. Police sent all bodies for post-mortem and started an investigation.Police said Ansh, 10, and Madhuri, 13, son and daughter of carpenter Ramashankar Vishwakarma, residents of Gauri village in the Jaspura police station area, went to bathe in the Chandrawal river on Monday morning along with their cousin Pratik. As the three began to drown, Ansh and Madhuri’s elder brother Siddharth, 18, jumped into the river to rescue them, but all three had drifted away in the river’s strong current. Jaspura police station personnel reached the ghat, and divers searched for two hours till they found all three bodies. Doctors at Jaspura CHC declared all three dead.
