Suspected ISI spy detained in Jaisalmer border area; payment deposits linked to espionage under probe

JAISALMER: A suspected youth was detained late Thursday night by a joint team of the Technical Cell of the State Special Branch from Jaipur and the local Border Intelligence Police in the Khariya border area near Hingolo Ki Dhani village under Nachna police station limits in Jaisalmer district. He is suspected of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and allegedly sharing confidential strategic information related to India’s security.The suspect is currently being questioned, and all security and intelligence agencies are expected to jointly interrogate him on Friday at the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) in Jaisalmer.According to reliable official sources, the detained individual has been identified as Mustaq Ali, son of Nabi baksha, aged around 27–28 years and a resident of Hingolo Ki Dhani in Nachna tehsil. He had reportedly been under surveillance for nearly two years on suspicion of transmitting sensitive and strategic information related to the Indian Army, Air Force, and other security agencies to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, through phone calls and social media platforms.Sources said that based on preliminary intelligence inputs regarding his suspicious and alleged anti-national activities, a joint special team of the State Special Branch and Border Intelligence Branch detained him on Thursday night.Investigators have also reportedly found deposits in his bank account that are suspected to be payments received in exchange for espionage activities.Further questioning and investigation will be carried out by multiple security and intelligence agencies at the Joint Interrogation Centre in Jaisalmer on Friday.
