Nagpur: The city police Crime Branch’s Social Service branch (SSB) unit seized around 113 gms of MD powder worth 12 lakh from two smugglers after intercepting a private bus at Waifall toll naka on Samruddhi Expressway on Wednesday. A team waited for 24 hours after receiving intel that the narcotics consignment was being transported from a supplier codenamed ‘DISC’ in Mumbai’s eastern suburb of Kurla. The same team had intercepted 150kg Mumbai-bound Cannabis a day ago. The two accused, Sayyed Qureshi and Shakeel Khalid, allegedly operate from Mominpura in central Nagpur. Shakeel has a criminal record. Police also seized mobile phones and other incriminating materials. The action was taken under CP’s Ravinder Singal’s ‘Operation Thunder’ and under directives of DCP (Crime) Deepak Aggarwal. Police are in process of registering an offence at Hingna police station.
