Former India captain Rahul Dravid called on cricketers to use the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 as a platform to gain the attention of IPL teams.
“I know for a fact that the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 is followed by a lot of IPL teams. There will be a lot of scouts who come to the games live, and a lot of them will watch on television,” Dravid said at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 trophy unveiling ceremony here on Thursday.
“The scores, statistics and data collected from the Maharaja Trophy helps a lot of players get into the IPL. A good example is Yash Raj Punja. He was one of the leading wicket-takers in the Maharaja Trophy last year. He hadn’t played a lot of league cricket in Karnataka, but he was able to get the attention of IPL scouts and perform very well for Rajasthan Royals,” Dravid, a former Rajasthan Royals head coach, said.

KSCA Hon. Secretary Santosh Menon mentioned three changes to the playing conditions. With respect to the impact player, teams will be required to submit their playing eleven before the toss. This forces sides to focus on the composition of the eleven, without the luxury of selecting an impact player based on whether the team is fielding or batting first.
Secondly, to reward good bowling, runs will not be awarded if a batter is dismissed off a free-hit. In addition, if an on-field dismissal is subsequently overturned and the batter is found to be not out, any runs completed during the play will be restored.
The tournament will commence at Mysuru on June 20.
