Slug: JUNE 2 FIRING IN GIDDIHazaribag: A member of the Rahul Dubey gang was arrested in the June 2 firing incident at Giddi-C checkpost, police said.On June 2, two criminals allegedly arrived at the checkpost on a bike and opened fire with the intention to create panic.A special investigation team (SIT), formed by Hazaribag superintendent of police (SP) Aman Kumar, received a tip-off about the involvement of Rahul Dubey gang member Mohammad Waris in the incident. Waris was detained from his residence for interrogation. He confessed to the involvement of two others besides him in the firing incident.Based on his statement, police recovered a 7.62 mm country-made pistol and two live cartridges used in the incident. Raids are under way to arrest them.Officer in-charge of the Giddi police station Iqbal Hussain said, “Waris, a resident of Chutel village under the Barkagaon police station area, has several cases, including attempt to murder, extortion, Arms Act and other serious offences, against him.”
