Lucknow: The CSIR-NBRI-EIACP Programme Centre, in collaboration with the department of Environmental Science, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), organised a World Environment Day 2026 programme on the theme ‘Inspired by nature. For climate. For our future.’Prof Venkatesh Dutta, head, department of Environmental Science, BBAU, Vice-Chancellor Prof RK Mittal, spoke on the importance of sustainable lifestyles and environmental responsibility.Renowned conservationist Asad R. Rahmani delivered the keynote lecture on bird conservation and biodiversity protection.The NBRI-EIACP team highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable lifestyle for the environment (Mission LiFE).A book, ‘Small River Restoration Guidebook, Standard Operating Procedure’, authored by Prof. Venkatesh Dutta, was released.A plantation drive was also conducted under the ‘#Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on the BBAU campus.Around 300 saplings of Mango, Banyan, Peepal, Sita Ashok, Sharifa and Bougainvillea were planted by dignitaries, faculty members, students and staff to promote biodiversity and environmental sustainability.The programme concluded with the Mission LiFE Pledge, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the environment and adopting sustainable lifestyles.
